Lub Dub
The circulatory system is very important. It's the collection of two organs that transport blood throughout the body. You could also call it the cardiovascular system. It is made up of the heart, veins, arteries, capillaries and the heart. There are two different types of circulation.
The heart is made up of four chambers. The left and right atrium, and the left and right ventricle. The ventricles are the lower chambers, and the left and right atrium are the higher chambers. The left side pumps oxygen-rich blood to the body. The right side pumps oxygen-poor blood to the lungs, but more on that later. Each of these chambers is separated by valves, the lub dub sound your heart makes is these valves opening and closing. They prevent backward blood flow. They are also in veins and arteries.
The veins and arteries are how the blood get to the rest of the body. Arteries transport oxygen-rich blood away from the heart, and the veins transport oxygen-poor blood back to the heart. Capillaries are where they meet together. They are tiny blood vessels that allow an exchange between blood and cells in other tissues.
The two different types of circulation are pulmonary circulation and systemic circulation.
Pulmonary circulation is the flow of blood the heart and to the lungs. Then back to the heart to be pumped throughout the body. Systemic circulation is the flow of blood through the heart to all of the parts of the body and back to the heart. And then shipped back to the lungs to keep working over and over again.
This is the cycle of the circulatory system. The right ventricle pumps oxygen-poor blood to the lungs and releases the carbon dioxide. The blood then takes in the oxygen through the capillaries that we breathed in and pumps it through the left ventricle. In the left ventricle, contractions pump the blood to the arteries to take the blood away and to be transferred in the capillaries. As blood is pumped through, it carries nutrients.oxygen, and water to the cells of the body.
What is Blood?
The blood is the fluid that carries gas, nutrients, and waste through the body. It's made up of plasma, red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells. Plasma is made up of water, minerals, nutrients, sugars, proteins and some other stuff. Its most of blood volume, making up 55% of the volume. Plasma is the reason your blood sticky.
Red blood cells, they take the oxygen to the rest of the body. Hemoglobin is what makes it red, the red part is the protein that holds the oxygen. They live 120 days, and around 2 million die every second. They are made in bone marrow. RBC's make up 45% of the volume of blood.
Platelets, they are small pieces of marrow. They clot small cuts, and scrapes. They only live 5-10 days, and they are much smaller than RBC's. White blood cells, they fight pathogens in the body. They squeeze away from the vessels to look for these pathogens in tissues. They are also made in bone marrow. Platelets and WBC's make up >1% of the volume of blood.
