The Filter of Blood

The urinary system is a system that also, like the digestion system deals with waste and waste management. Not solids, but liquids. The kidneys are one of the main parts. The nephrons are in the kidneys, they filter the blood. There are some things that can go wrong too. Another topic other than the kidneys is drinking and sweating. This is very important to the body because it helps the body maintain homeostasis.

The kidneys are the main part of the urinary system. The kidneys are organs that filter water and waste from the blood and excrete urine. Nephrons are in the kidneys. They are the unit in the kidneys that filter the blood. Blood enters through the renal artery and then moves on the nephrons. The blood that has finally been filtered exits through the renal vein.

The urine or waste exits through the ureter. The ureter dumps into the urinary bladder. In the urinary bladder, the urine waits until you can relive yourself. You have some control on when to relieve yourself, but after a while, you can hold it anymore. So you relieve yourself whether you like it or not.

Drinking water is very important to your health. If you don't drink enough, you become dehydrated. Symptoms of dehydration vary from person to person. Some include lethargicness, sunken eyes, irritability, and headaches. When you become dehydrated you are also losing salts and electrolytes that help keep everything balanced. There are many ways to become dehydrated, sweating is most likely the main cause.

You sweat because this is the body's natural reaction to becoming overheated. Just like when you are cold you shiver, when you are hot, you sweat. Sweating dehydrates you, so make sure you stay hydrated by drinking enough water. One great way to make sure that you stay dehydrated is to take as much water in as you put water out.

Your body reacts to 'being' thirsty, and release antidiuretic hormones. Antidiuretic hormones are released to signal kidneys to take water from nephrons. Diuretics cause kidneys to make more urine, your body gets less use of the water. Antidiuretics make the kidneys take more water and not get rid of it.

There are some things that can go wrong with the urinary system. Kidney stones are a collection of salts and other wastes bounce around, creating a stone. They can be passed naturally, which is very painful, or they will have to be surgically removed.

Another urinary issue is kidney disease. Kidney disease is when nephrons are damaged. When they are damaged, you can't filter your blood. So you are hooked up to a machine that filters your blood for you.

The last thing that I'm going to write about that can go wrong is bacterial infections. There isn't much to say, bacteria can get into your urethra, and if not treated soon enough, it can cause permanent kidney damage.
